TLI Tracking — Privacy Policy
Effective 08/21/2026. Last updated 08/21/2026.
Transport Logistics, Inc. ("TLI," "we," "us") provides the TLI Tracking mobile app for drivers hauling freight loads arranged through TLI. This policy explains what the app collects, why, who it is shared with, and the choices you have.
TLI Tracking is a commercial tool for drivers on assigned loads. It is not intended for, or directed at, the general public or children.
Location data — the short version
TLI Tracking collects your device's precise location, including while the app is in the background and your phone is locked.
Location collection starts when you confirm pickup of an assigned load and stops as soon as delivery is confirmed. The app does not collect your location between loads, before you accept a pickup, or after a load is delivered.
On Android, a persistent notification reading "TLI Tracking — Tracking your progress to the destination" is shown the entire time location is being collected.
What is recorded
Each location reading contains latitude, longitude, speed, and the time of the reading, associated with the shipment record for the load you are hauling. Readings are taken roughly every two kilometers of travel or every two minutes, whichever comes first.
What it is used for
- Letting TLI dispatch and the customer whose freight you are carrying see the shipment's progress and estimated arrival.
- Detecting automatically when you arrive within approximately one mile of the delivery address, which is what enables the Deliver button in the app.
Location data is not used for advertising, sold or rented to anyone, shared with data brokers, or combined with data from other companies' apps or websites to build a profile of you.
Precise accuracy
The app asks for precise (not approximate) location. Approximate location is not accurate enough to reliably confirm arrival at a consignee. On iOS, if you have Precise Location turned off, the app may ask for temporary precise access for the duration of the load.
Everything the app collects
| Category | What | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Location | Precise latitude/longitude, speed, timestamp — foreground and background, during an active load only | Shipment visibility; automatic arrival detection |
| Photographs | Photos of the Bill of Lading you take at pickup and at delivery, with the time taken | Proof of pickup and proof of delivery |
| Shipment details | Driver name, carrier/company name, trailer number, BOL and load order numbers | Associating the load with the right driver and equipment |
| Device identifier | A random identifier the app generates on first launch and stores on your device, plus platform (iOS/Android) and app version | Authorizing the device to communicate with TLI's servers; revoking access if a device is lost |
| Diagnostics | Crash reports, error messages, and reports that a required permission was denied or turned off | Fixing faults; letting operations staff tell a permission problem apart from a coverage dead zone |
The app has no login and does not ask for or collect your email address, phone number, contacts, photos already in your camera roll, or any payment information.
How the camera is used
The app uses your device camera only when you are on a photo screen, to photograph the Bill of Lading at pickup and at delivery. It does not access your existing photo library and does not record video or audio.
Who your information is shared with
- TLI staff — dispatch and operations personnel who manage the load.
- The customer for your load — the shipper, consignee, or broker whose freight you are hauling may see the shipment's progress and proof-of-delivery documentation for that shipment.
- Your carrier, where the load is run under a carrier agreement.
- Service providers who process data on our behalf under contract. This includes Sentry, which receives crash and error diagnostics, and our hosting providers. They may not use the data for their own purposes.
- When legally required — in response to lawful requests from public authorities, to comply with law, or to establish or defend legal claims.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
How long it is kept
Different categories of information are kept for different lengths of time.
Location readings
Deleted approximately 30 days after the load is delivered. The GPS readings that make up a shipment's route are not part of our long-term business records and are purged on a rolling basis.
No location information is carried over into the permanent shipment record. The proof-of-delivery record retains the photograph and the time it was taken, but not the coordinates where it was taken. Once the 30-day window has passed, TLI no longer holds the route you drove.
Bill of Lading photographs and shipment records
Proof-of-pickup and proof-of-delivery photographs, and the shipment records they belong to, are part of our permanent business records for the freight we move. We retain them for as long as needed to:
- meet transportation record-keeping requirements applicable to motor carriers and freight brokers;
- satisfy tax, accounting, audit, and insurance obligations;
- resolve cargo claims, billing disputes, and other legal claims, which may be brought years after delivery; and
- honor our agreements with the customers whose freight was carried.
In practice this means these records are kept for the duration of our relationship with the relevant carrier and customer and for a minimum of 5 years afterward. Some older shipment records are retained beyond that period as part of our archived business records.
Device identifier
Retained while the device remains registered to use the app. Removed when the registration is revoked or the app is uninstalled and the registration expires.
Diagnostic and crash data
Retained by our diagnostics provider for a limited period, typically 90 days, and then deleted.
When information is no longer needed for any of the purposes above, we delete it or de-identify it so it can no longer be linked to you.
Your choices
- Location permission. You can grant, limit, or withdraw location access at any time in your device's Settings. Withdrawing it does not stop you from using the rest of the app, but shipment progress will not be visible to dispatch and the app may not be able to confirm your arrival automatically, which can mean delivery has to be handled manually.
- Camera permission. Can likewise be withdrawn in Settings. Without it, the app cannot capture proof of pickup or delivery.
- Notifications. Optional, and can be turned off in Settings.
- Uninstalling the app stops all collection.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you, to obtain a copy of it, or to appeal a decision we make about such a request. Residents of Texas, California, and other U.S. states with comprehensive privacy laws have these rights under those laws.
To make a request, contact us at info@translogistics.com. We will verify your request before acting on it. Note that some records — including proof-of-delivery documentation and shipment history — may need to be retained to meet legal, contractual, and transportation record-keeping requirements even after a deletion request.
Security
Data is transmitted to TLI over encrypted connections. Each device is issued its own credential, which can be revoked. We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no method of transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
TLI Tracking is a commercial driver tool and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The revised version will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Material changes affecting how location data is collected or shared will be communicated before they take effect.
